I have over 20 years of professional experience in several different roles and industries. All those years of administrative leadership, project management, event planning, and working with people have translated into helping small business owners with daily administrative tasks through virtual assistance.
I was born and raised in Lancaster County, PA, including attending high school and college. I taught secondary mathematics at my alma mater, managed the Ride Operations department of a family amusement park, and grew as a Human Resources professional in the hospitality and food manufacturing industries for over 10 years. My bachelor's degree from Millersville University is in Secondary Mathematics Education, and my master's degree from Walden University is in Management.
At Servant Heart Virtual Assistant, my story begins with a passion for helping businesses succeed. I've always had a strong inclination towards helping others, usually in behind-the-scenes or very hands-on ways.
As I progressed through my various roles, especially in Human Resources, I found it exceedingly tough to identify the impact that I made for others. When reflecting on what parts of my jobs brought me the most joy and feelings of success, it was things like helping arrange transportation for an injured employee to attend physical therapy, getting ideas together for a two team members who were suddenly in a housing crisis, and advocating for a co-worker who had a health insurance issue.
In addition to my professional experiences, I'm an active volunteer in my community as well. At my church, I serve as a team leader in the Technical department, and assist in the Food Bank operations. I'm the Chair for the Professional Development Committee of Lancaster SHRM, the local HR professionals organization. Most recently, I joined a planning & fundraising committee of Samaritan Center (a local non-profit), mentor a high school junior through the Lancaster Chamber, and am a member of the advisory board for the Transformative Leadership program at Seton Hall University.
